Fix it: Windows XP Activations Troubleshooting
If you have problems with windows xp activations, try the following steps.
It might help:

Step 1
1. Get into Command Prompt.
2. Type cd\windows\system32
3. Type ren wpa.dbl wpa.old
4. Type copy wpa.bak wpa.dbl
5. Restart
Check if you're able to activate, or else follow step 2
Step 2
1. Start > run >regedit>
2. Go to > HKLM\Software\Microsoft\windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon
3. Add a DWORD value to this key that is named “Activation Required”, and then set the value of this DWORD to 1.
Restart and check if you're able to activate, if still no go, keep on following
Step 3
1. Start > run >regedit>
2. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\windows NT\Current Version\WPAEvents\OOBETimer
3. Make some random changes to the value, do not restart, then try to
Activate again by running the command c:\windows\system32\oobe\msoobe /a
Step 4
1. Get into Command Prompt
2. Type cd\windows\system32
3. Type ren wpa.dbl wpa.old
4. expand d:\i386\wpa.db_ wpa.dbl
5. Restart
